Radiation Treatment

As a rule, we associate the radiation treatment with a cancer and various grave consequences which are connected with it. And of course, it seems to us that this is a modern type of treatment and perhaps, only our generation has the opportunity to recover. But it should be noted that radiation treatment has been in use for more than 100 years. So, it can be said that all the side-effects of its influence are studied and this system really works.

Radiation treatment can be used as primary therapy as well as additional treatment in combination with other kinds of therapies. Thus, radiotherapy can be used with chemotherapy, hormone therapy or surgery. The time and dosage of radiation treatment depend on the tumor type, location and stage. The state of health of the patient also is very important in this case.

It also can be said that all the side-effects which are caused by this type of treatment depend on the above mentioned factors. Thus, some people may suffer from medium and long-term side effects (fibrosis or hair loss), while others - from acute side effects (swelling or damage of skin). And of course, it should be mentioned that the very radiation can cause cancer, so the use of this kind of treatment is limited.
