Radiation Safety

Nowadays we can hear a lot about radiation influence and radioactivity on the whole. As a rule, all these reports are really frightening. The danger which is caused by such things really exists, though the scientists in this field can't say for sure what the measure of its influence is. The other thing is that we don't know much about the programs and people who work in order to protect us. And whether these things really exist.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (or NRC) is a United States government agency that was founded in 1975. Its main goal is to control the matters concerning nuclear energy and radiation safety from the Atomic Energy Commission. It should be noted that this organization works only on the territory of the US. In other words, every country has its own agency concerning the above mentioned problems.

There are three main fields which are covered by the NRC. They may be divided into such areas as reactors, materials and waste. It is up to Nuclear Regulatory Commission to provide radiation safety and test commercial reactors which are used for generating electric power as well as for research and training. This organization has to control the use of nuclear materials in industrial and medical settings. And also it is necessary to control storage, transportation and disposal of nuclear materials for providing radiation safety.
